Traveling to Boston
Over 75% of our surgical patients travel to Boston for surgery. We’ve been fortunate to have patients from countries all over the world including England, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand and of course, the USA.
Dr. Spiegel’s office is in the heart of Boston University’s School of Medicine campus in the Moakley Building. Located in Boston’s South End neighborhood, we are just 20 minutes from Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS) and 5 minutes from South Station train and bus station.
Patients are typically in Boston for 10 days for their surgery. They arrive two days before their surgery to get settled before a visit with Dr. Spiegel and our anesthesia department. This is to confirm the surgical plan and their medical condition. A post-op visit is scheduled 7 or 8 days after surgery and patients are free to return home after this appointment. Please do not book flights or hotel rooms until you have received a surgical confirmation letter.
We work with a number of hotels to suit anybody’s taste and budget. Each of these frequently house our patients and are quite familiar with our work. We have an excellent relationship with these hotels and they frequently tell us how much they enjoy having our patients stay with them. See below for further information.
About Boston
Boston, Massachusetts is often considered to be the most European of American cities. First settled in 1630, Boston has grown to be one of the world’s greatest cities for education and healthcare. With a beautiful river (the Charles) and sitting in a protected harbor on the Atlantic coast, Boston abounds with scenic views and things to do in all seasons.
Boston is home to an enormous number of cultural, dining and historical attractions. Of course, it is also home to Boston Red Sox baseball, New England Patriots football, Boston Celtics basketball, and Boston Bruins hockey. For our European friends, we even have a European Football (soccer) team, the New England Revolution. Boston was recently named the second most fun city to visit in the United States (after New York City).
We’re certain you’ll enjoy your time here and will get a chance to enjoy some of what Boston has to offer (even if convalescing from surgery).
